‘Full House’ (1987 – 1995) was a comedy about a dad sharing parental duties with his best-friends.
Come to think of it it was a fairly obvious ‘3 Men and a Baby’ rip-off with added daughters, double-denem, mullets, scrunchies and Olsens.
Listening to those lyrics again it seems to be about a man who is having a mental-breakdown.
The San-Fran sitcom launched the careers of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen – but what about the other cast members? Find out what everyone is up to now after the jump!
Bob Saget – Danny Tanner
Bob hosted the equally family-friendly ‘America’s Funniest Home Videos’ during the 90’s – but he hid a dark secret… he is actually a filthy stand-up comedian.
Here’s Bob Saget telling the ‘Aristocrats’ joke –
(Warning: very strong language, I mean VERY STRONG)
Bob is also the narrator (voice of future Ted Mosby) on ‘How I Met Your Mother’ and has appeared in ‘Entourage’ a few times as himself.
He has three daughters with his ex-wife.
John went on to play Dr Tony Gates on E.R, an ugly man who is unlucky with the ladies.
No, not really.
Continuing the medical theme more recently he played Dr Carl Howell on ‘Glee’. He also popped up in an episode of ‘Friends’ as Chandler’s co-worker who gets freaked out when they try to use him as a sperm donor.
In one of the more unusual bits of trivia I’ve ever come across John is practically a member of The Beach Boys. He has played and toured with the band many times.
John was previously married to X-Men star Rebecca Romijn, they divorced in 2005.
Oh sure, he went on to star in ‘Dumb and Dumber’ and that rubbish Aaron Sorkin show ‘Newsroom’. Nope you’re thinking of the identical, but somewhat more succesful, Jeff Daniels.
Back to Dave. He also lent his voice to cartoons like ‘The Real Ghostbusters’ and ‘The Muppet Babies’. Since Full House, he’s appeared in a few Disney TV movies and reality shows like ‘The Surreal Life’ and ‘Skating with Celebrities’.
He once dated Alanis Morissette and reckons he is the subject of the ultimate angry-ex anthem ‘You Oughta Know’.
He has one son called Luc with his ex-wife Jayne Modean.
Candace Cameron – DJ Tanner
Candace is the younger sister of the (now infamous) Kirk Cameron, a far-right Christian actor who starred in ‘Growing Pains’.
Besides popping up on the odd nostalgia show and a cancelled drama called ‘Make It Or Break It’, Candace gave up acting to concentrate on being a mum for her three kids with husband Valeri Bure, a hockey player who she married in 1996.
Jodie Sweetin – Stephanie Tanner
Jodie went to high school with Glee star Matthew Morrison and they did musical theatre together.
She had a massive drug problems ever since the show ended but is now clean and sober.
Jodie has two daughters – Zoe with her second husband Cody Herpin, and Beatrix with her third Marty Coyle (whom she separated from in June 2013).
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen as Michelle Tanner
Amazingly they are not actually identical twins – but fraternal twins (meaning two different sperm, two different eggs).
The twins joined the sitcom aged 9 months and because of strict labour laws about how long a child can be on set, they took turns playing Michelle Tanner.
In 1993 (when they were 6) they founded their company Dualstar which produced all their ‘tween’ movies, making them some of the richest women in entertainment at a very young age (in 2007 they had an estimated net-worth of $100 million).
More recently they’ve left acting to concentrate on fashion design with Mary-Kate (the ‘edgier’ twin) in particular becoming something of a fashion icon.
Mary-Kate was also a close-friend of Heath Ledger and when his masseuse found him dead he called Mary-Kate twice before phoning police.
She says she got help for anorexia in the past, does not have fond memories of ‘Full House’ and is now dating Olivier Sarkozy, the half-brother of ex-French President Nicholas Sarkozy.
Their younger sister Elizabeth Olsen is now a successful actress in her own right, she received loads of praise for her role in ‘Martha, Marcy, Mae, Marlene’.
BTW Ashley is two minutes older than Mary-Kate and one inch taller.
Andrea Barber – as Kimmy Gibbler
Andrea pretty much retired from acting after ‘Full House’, except for this ‘Funny or Die’ sketch with former co-star David Coulier.
She has two children with her husband and travelled to England to do Women’s Studies at University of York.
After a string of sitcom guest appearances, Lori co-created, produced and starred in ‘Summerland’ until it was cancelled in 2005. The show also starred Aussie actors Ryan Kwanten (from ‘True Blood’) and Jessie Spencer (from ‘House’).
She has since played Debi Wilson on ‘90210’.
Lori has two daughters with her second husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli.
She hasn’t aged and should be studied for medical science.
Scott has since graduated with a major in English from Harvard University and is a writer on shows like ‘Privileged‘ and ‘90210’.
That expression is basically saying –
Tahj comes from a family that was certainly dominating kid-friendly sitcoms in the mid-90’s, his older sisters are Tia and Tamera Mowry from ‘Sister, Sister’.
Tahj went on to get his own sitcom called ‘Smart Guy’ and he popped up in a few Disney movies.
He now played Tucker Dobbs on a new ABC sitcom called ‘Baby Daddy’.
Are they all still friends? Well, the whole ‘Full House’ cast actually reunited in 2012 – here’s pictorial evidence of that reunion.
Mary-Kate and Ashley were..err.. busy.
Really, that was the excuse. Their publicist said the girls “weren’t able to attend, given their work schedules.”
Here’s their last ever curtain call on the show.
The cast of ‘Full House’, we salute you!
