What Ever Happened To.. the cast of Baywatch?

Baywatch was the biggest TV show of the 90’s and was sold right around the world, it seems watching fit people bounce needs no translation.  Baywatch also had a  theme tune that demands you stand up and run in slow motion – or at least visualise Pamela Anderson doing just that.

Behold the title sequence in all its glory.

But what about all those believable-looking lifeguards?  How many ended up in rehab, Playboy and third-rate reality TV shows? The answer is .. almost all of them.  However the are a few surprises in the pack.   Catch-up with the ENTIRE cast of Baywatch after the jump!

David Hasselhoff – Mitch Buchanan

Hasselhoff was already famous for his part in Knight Rider, he produced and starred in Baywatch, along with spin-offs like Baywatch Nights and Baywatch Hawaii.  Was also a huge music star in Germany and sang on the Berlin Wall in 1989. After battling alcohol problems he now pops up in reality competitions like Britain’s Got Talent and is a regular panto star.

Parker Stevenson – Craig Pomeroy (1989 -1990, 1997-1998)

Parker was a ‘teen heart-throb’ in 70’s series The Hardy Boys.  He has two children with his ex-wife Kirstie Alley.

Shawn Weatherly – Jill Riley (1989-1990)

A former Miss Universe and Miss USA, she also appeared in Police Academy 3.  She is now living in Newport Beach, California with her husband and two kids.

Billy Warlock – Eddie Kramer (1989 -1992)

Billy has also appeared in daytime soaps General Hospital (playing the brilliantly named A.J. Quartermaine), Days of Our Lives and As The World Turns. Was engaged to Baywatch co-star Erika Eleniak, is now married to former Days of Our Lives co-star Julie Pinson.

Erika Eleniak – Shauni McClain (1989 -1992)

Erika was the girl that Elliot kisses in ET.  Before Baywatch she was a Playboy model and since the show she starred in films like Under Siege and The Beverly Hillbillies. More recently she appeared on reality shows like The Real Gilligan’s Island and Celebrity Fit Club and has a daughter called Indyanna.

Peter Phelps – Trevor Cole (1989-1990)

An Aussie actor who has also appeared in soaps like Sons and Daughters, A Country Practice, Flying Doctors and more recently All Saints. He also played a surfer in Point Break alongside Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze.

Brandon Call – the orginal Hobie Buchannon (1989 – 1990)

Apparently he decided to leave the show after the first season as it wasn’t that popular.. yet.  Brandon worked on the family comedy ‘Step by Step’ during the 90’s.  He was shot twice during a road rage incident in 1996 but survived.  Doesn’t seem to be involved in acting anymore.

Holly Gagnier – Gina Pomeroy (1989 -1990)

Another Baywatch star who worked on daytime soaps, she went on to play Cassie on ‘One Life To Live’.   Also had a small role as Joey’s sister ‘Mary Angela’ in Friends. Most recently she appeared on “Private Practice”, and the season finale of “Ringer”.  She is divorced with one daughter.

Monte Markham – Don Thorpe (1989 – 1992)

Monte played a villain in The Six Million Dollar Man and Blanche’s gay brother on The Golden Girls, is still acting.

John Allen Nelson – John D Cort (1989 -1990, recurring after that)

He appeared as Monica’s boyfriend Paul “The Wine Guy” in Friends, co-wrote some martial-arts films and most recently starred in 24 and Vanished .  He has been married twice and has three children.

Gregory Allen Williams – Garner Ellerbee (1989–1990, 1992, 1993–1995, recurring)

After Baywatch Garner popped up in guest roles on The Sopranos, One Tree Hill, Boston Legal and films like Remember The Titans, Old School and Oliver Stone’s biopic ‘W’.

He has written four books – one dealing with the Los Angeles race riots of 1992.

Jeremy Jackson – the second Hobie Buchannon (1991 – 2000)

He beat Leonardo DiCaprio to the part of Hobie when it was being recast.  Says he had a serious drug problem during his time on Baywatch and went to rehab after leaving the show.

He has appeared on ropey reality shows like ‘Confessions of a Teen Idol‘ in an attempt to re-start his career and came fifth on ‘Celeb Rehab with Dr Drew’ in 2011 (he had an addition to steroids).  A sex tape featuring Jeremy and a porn star popped up online in 2008.

In January 2015 he took part in ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ (UK).

Richard Jaeckel – Ben Edwards (1991-1992, recurring)

Was a well-known character actor with roles in loads of westerns and war movies.  He was Oscar nominated for his role in Sometimes a Great Notion.  His son Barry was a professional golfer who won the PGA Championship

Died in 1997 aged 70.

Nicole Eggert – Summer Quinn (1992 – 1994)

Nicole started out in 80’s sitcoms Who’s The Boss and Charles in Charge.  After Baywatch she appeared in Celebrity Fit Club and the Comedy Central Roast of David Hasselhoff.  She was engaged to the late teen-star Corey Haim in the early 90’s and rushed him to hospital with a drug overdose several times.

She is now divorced with two daughters and is currently taking part in the US version of celeb diving show ‘Splash’.  You can follow her on Twitter here.

David Charvet – Matt Brody (1992-1995)

David is actually French and moved to the States after winning the Green Card lottery. After Baywatch he appeared in Melrose Place but left acting in 1999 to focus on his music career.  More recently he appeared on reality show The Superstars and the French version of The Farm ‘La Ferme Célébrités’.  He’s married with four children.

Pamela Anderson – CJ Parker (1992 – 1997)

Pamela moved from Canada to LA to pursue her modelling career, she landed a small role on Home Improvement and posed for Playboy many times.  After her iconic role in Baywatch, Pamela starred in her own flop movie Barb Wire.  These days she appears on reality shows like Dancing With the Stars, Australian Big Brother, Bigg Boss (the Indian Big Brother) and Dancing on Ice.

She has two sons from her marriage to Tommy Lee and married Kid Rock in 2006 but divorced the same year. Her marriage to Rick Saloman was annulled in 2008.

Kelly Slater – Jimmy Slade (1992 -1993)

Kelly had a guest-role on Baywatch but is known as a professional surfer.  He was crowned crowned ASP World Champion a record 11 times. He is both the youngest (at age 20) and the oldest (at age 39) to win the title.  He has a teenage daughter called Taylor.

Alexandra Paul – Stephanie Holden (1992 – 1997)

Since Baywatch she has appeared in loads of films (though none you’ve heard of).  She did film a cameo in Borat which was cut but remains on the DVD extras.  Alexandra is also an endurance athlete and an environmental activist.  She appeared in the documentary ‘Who Killed The Electric Car?’

Yasmine Bleeth – Caroline Holden (1994 – 1997, recurring)

Yasmine was a child-model and has been working in soaps before landing her Baywatch role. He met her husband while in rehab for cocaine addiction – and avoided jail after being convicted of drug possession in 2001. She has been clean for over a decade and says about cocaine “It became my boyfriend, my best friend, my family.”

Jaason Simmons – Logan Fowler (1994 – 1996)

Aussie actor Jaason (yup that’s how he spells it) came out as gay in 2008.  Has adopted a son called Odin from Uganda.

David Chokachi – Cody Madison (1995 – 1999)

David has a degree in political science.  After Baywatch he appeared in some show called  Witchblade and a few TV movies.  Like Jeremy Jackson he appeared on Confessions of a Teen Idol, a reality show where ex-celebs try to re-ignite their careers.

Gena Lee Nolin – Neely Capshaw (1994 – 1998)

A former ‘Price Is Right’ model, Gena quit Baywatch in 1998 to star in her own series ‘Sheena’, a woman who lives in the jungle and can morph into different animals. Like many of her Baywatch co-stars she posed for Playboy in 2001. Gena has been married twice and has three children.

Donna D’Erico – Donna Marco (1996 – 1998)

A former Playboy model she has appeared in a few independent films since Baywatch.  Donna was married to Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx for nine years, they divorced in 2007.  She is now a devout Catholic and says of her past –  “It seems to me like another person. It’s not who I am today.”  In 2012 she injured herself while looking for the frozen remains of Noah’s Ark on a Turkish mountain.

José Solano – Manny Gutierrez (1996 – 1998)

His acting career stalled after Baywatch and he wasn’t heard of again – until he was arrested in 2008 for burglary of a tattoo parlor.

Traci Bingham – Jordan Tate (1996 – 1998)

Before Baywatch he appeared in Marky Mark’s 1992 video for ‘Good Vibrations’.

Yes this is Mark Wahlberg, and don’t you ever let him forget it.

Since Baywatch she’s appeared in reality shows like The Surreal Life and Celebrity Big Brother where she made it to the final (non-celeb Chantelle Houghton won).

Nancy Valen – Samantha Thomas (1996 – 1997)

She made her debut in Porky’s Revenge and has guest starred on shows like CSI, Saved By The Bell, Boy Meets World and Friends. She is now a TV producer and has been married since 1994. She is best friends with her former Baywatch co-star Yasmine Bleeth.

Michael Newman – Michael Newman (recurring since star and full time 1996 – 1999)

Michael was a real-life lifeguard who was a consultant on the show but frequently appeared on screen. Apparently many scenes from the show were re-enactments of real-life rescues Michael had made. He is now a real-estate agent in Pacific Palisades and is married with two children.  In the last five years he has been living with Parkinson’s Disease.

Carmen Electra – Lani McKenzie (1997 – 1998)

Carmen’s real name is Tara Leigh Patrick.  She began her career as a dancer and in the early 90’s was signed to Prince’s record label.  After a Playboy shoot she landed the Baywatch role which made her world famous.  Carmen was a member of the Pussycat Dolls dancing troupe (before they became the music group). She has appeared in a load of dodgy comedies like Scary Movie, Meet the Spartans, Epic Movie, Date Movie, Disaster Movie (you get the idea).

She has been married to basketball player Dennis Rodman and Jane’s Addiction singer Dave Navarro.

Most recently she was a guest judge on X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent, she hinted that she may have had a secret relationship with Simon Cowell.

Kelly Packard – April Giminski (1997 – 1999)

Kelly is a Mormon and was married in 1997. She has since appeared on info-mericals and TV game shows like Pyramid.

Michael Bergin – J.D Darious

He was apparently the first male super-model.  In a book he said he had an affair with Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy while she was married to John F Kennedy Junior.  He is now married with two children.

Angelica  Bridges – Taylor Walsh (1997 – 1998)

Since the show Angelica did a shoot in Playboy magazine (surprise, surprise). She is the lead singer of a pop group Strawberry Blonde, is married with a daughter.

Marliece Andrada – Skylar Bergman (1997)

She went on to .. do a shoot in Playboy magazine! (and not much else)

Mitzi Kapture – Alex Ryker (1998 – 1999)

Mitizi had appeared in a quality-sounding detective show called Silk Stalkings for five years before joining Baywatch.  Since then she popped up on the soap The Young and the Restless and a few TV movies.

Brooke Burns – Jessie Owens (1998 – 1999)

Since Baywatch, Brooke appeared in soap opera North Shore for five years. She has also appeared in the new version of Melrose Place and Shallow Hall (in a part written especially for her). She was married to former Home and Away and Nip/Tuck star Julian McMahon and was engaged to Bruce Willis (they broke up in 2004).  She is now engaged to film director Gavin O’Connor.

And that is the entire cast of Baywatch!  Phew! So a few stints in rehab, quite a few Playboy photo-shoots and one search for Noah’s Ark.

  5. So is Baywatch Hawaii not considered part of the Baywatch franchise. I thought it just was a revamped updated followup and Season 1 and Season 2 of it are often referred to as season 10 and 11 of Baywatch. It would be nice to have updates on the remaining cast members of that show since several of the cast listed above were on that show too.

    • I assume this also was just actors who had bigger roles on the show because i see some reoccurring characters from some seasons not included. One in particular I remember is Tom McTigue from Season 2 who was a lifeguard on the show. Have been curious what happened to him as well.
